Mid Atlantic Mid Tertiary Monkey Landbridge
Still the best evidence and most commonly cited acceptance of "Stepping-stone" islands forming a mid-Cenozoic landbridge across the Atlantic is the necessity to get New World Monkeys INTO the New World AS MONKEYS, related to the Old World Monkeys BUT getting there at such a time when Panama was NOT a landbridge. The ancestors of New World monkeys simply could not have got there even if there WAS a Bering landbridge up at the time.
They had to go the other way around.
